John Richard Rinehart of Dillsburg left this earth to reunite with his beloved Millie on Thursday, March 04, 2010.

Born in his parents' farmhouse on June 15, 1932, John was the son of the late Charles & Margaret Hoopes Rinehart.

John was a life-long resident of Monaghan Township, York County, Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Lemoyne High School and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania. After serving in the U.S. Army, he began a 30-year career as an industrial engineer with the Bethlehem Steel Corporation in Steelton. Additionally, he was the owner of Rinehart's Orchards, which he began with his mother, Margaret, in 1958 and continued to operate with his son, John.

Having a strong sense of public service, John served on the Northern York County School District Board of Directors for 18 years, 10 years as the board's president. He also served on the Cumberland-Perry Vo-Tech Board of Directors, the York County Parks and Recreation Commission, and the Monaghan Township Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board. A Mason for over 50 years, John was also a member of the Dillsburg VFW and a former member of the Dillsburg Lion's Club.

Mr. Rinehart was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Millicent (Sutton). He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Cheri Rinehart of Dillsburg; grandchildren Amber LeCadre and Ryan Kroboth of Harrisburg, and Jonna Rinehart; and great-grandson, Hayden LeCadre.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, 7:00 p.m, March 10, 2010 at the Cocklin Funeral Home, 30 N. Chestnut Street, Dillsburg. AVisitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m.at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at the convenience of the Family.

In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting that memorial donations be made to the Northern York School District Polar Bear Foundation, 149 S. Baltimore Street, Dillsburg, PA 17019 in support of education.
